Cloud Kompute

Cloud Kompute provides affordable virtual machines of varying performances and sizes. Through our commitment of making full use of hardware and our internal resource optimization we are able to keep prices low and our impact on the environemnt minimal. This service is ideal for small businesses and individuals trying to offload local workloads. Currently all hosts are located in Canada.

This page will be updated frequently over the next few months to share more information on how the Kompute service works and how it can be used.

Epokingine Cloud Kompute Prerelease Reservation

The Cloud Kompute service will be made available on Novemeber 25, availablity will be low initially so we are giving users a chance to reserve Kompute virtual machines and be given first access to storage and RAM expansion while also being 25% off for as long as the VM is active. To reserve a virtual machine you will be billed for 3 months of use up front, then on November 25th you will gain access to your VM and will not be billed until 5 months after you paid for your reservation. Prices listed are 25% less than what posted prices for Kompute VMs will be on November 25.

Kompute VM List

Performance

Kompute VMs are classified as three different types, each type describes the host it runs on. VMs are prefixed with an architecture code (primarily ARI for ARM and XCI for x86_64):

Dedicated Shared: the host is dedicated to sharing its resources to allow as many virtual machines possible to run before causing significant slow downs while the host is busy. This is our lowest-cost tier of virtual machines however it is not recomended for applications where stability and conistency is needed
    - Epokingine Shared: virtual machined running on hosts optimized for Epokingine services. Many of these virtual machines are given less CPU time since the host has to prioritize Epokingine services. More consistent CPU performance less likely to be subjected to down time from maintenance.
Dedicated: no host CPU or memory overcomittments, little to no disk pooling, these VMs run on hosts with few other tenants to maintain consistent CPU, memory, and disk performance.

CPUs we use

All VMs prefixed with CIX are x86_64 CPUs running on Intel or AMD CPUs. VMs prefixed with ARI are for the ARM architecture, currently ARM VMs are hosted on Broadcom and RockChip CPUs with a frequency of at least 1.5Ghz.

Host Disks

To attempt to reduce VM prices management of host disks is reflective of the compute optimization on the host. Main VM OS disks will always be stored on SSD disks, for Dedicated Shared VMs it is likely that the OS will run on heavily pooled NVMe or lightly pooled SATA SSDs.. Epokingine Shared VMs store the OS disk on much more lightly pooled NVMe drives, these NVMe drives are expected to have possibly one other tenant and likely take on small workloads from Epokingine services, HDD storage is also pooled less allowing VMs to access read and write faster. Dedicated VMs run on their own NVMe SSDs where there is no interference from any other tenants or applications, HDD storage is unlikely to be pooled for preconfigured disks larger than 500GB.

Expanded SSD storage will be stored on either individual NVMe SSDs or RAID SATA SSDs to attempt to maintain reasonably fast speeds even while other tenants are using them. Pooling for expanded HDD storage is kept as minimal as possible to ensure consistent speeds.

VM Disks

You are responsible for the contents of your virtual machine. All virtual disks are stored encrypted with account of any internal accesses and modifications. Cloud Kompute does not currently provide a backup service, however in the future this will be an optional feature that may require payment. While doing maintenance your images and internal configurations are internally backed up to prevent any loss of your data. Currently VM disk expansion is not available but will be offered to users who preorder VMs during initial release. Storage expansion is kept on seperate disks from your main disk, both SSD and HDD storage will be offered with a limit of 400GB of SSD storage and 800GB of HDD storage per VM. Storage expansion will not require restart and will appear as /dev/sdX.

Notable Network Limitations

At the current moment IPv4 addresses are shared amongst other users and outgoing bandwidth cannot be guaranteed to be consistent. Since IPv4 addresses cannot be allocated to every virtual machine each virtual machine is given two methods to connect: each virtual machine is assigned an SSH port between 10000 and 50000, this is intended for logging in to your virtual machine. On creation you can optionally allow your virtual machine to be assigned it's own domain name structured as: <16 character string>.vm<n>.epokingine-cloud-vms<n>.net, any services you wish to make available through your virtual machine are expected to be routed through this domain. If your VM uses all included outgoing traffic it will shutdown, currently our network infrastructre is not large enough to gaurantee usage for all users beyond what is included in the VM.

Since IPs and subdomains are shared with multiple users we must take network abuse very seriously. We monitor CPU, memory, and network usage to ensure that guests are not conducting abusive or malicious behavior. When abusive behavior is detected your virtual machine or Cloud account may be terminated without notice, you may contact Epokingine support to have them restored.

All virtual machines may be subject to IP address changes. You will be notified of any host or network maintenance as far in advance as reasonably possible. If your virtual machine requires a host migration you will be notified of the transfer along with an account of the disk contents.

Currently Kompute VMs cannot handle traffic heavy applications and cannot be guaranteed consistent transfer speeds. As the Kompute service grows VMs will include higher capacity for outgoing requests and offer metered billing for users who use more than their included traffic.

Kompute VMs:

By reserving a Kompute VM you acknowledge the limitations, restrictions, and conditions of termination described on this page and that this will be more thoroughly detailed in the Epokingine Cloud Terms and Conditions to reflect the release of the Kompute service and that the user must agree to follow those terms in order to have access to their Kompute VM, users who do not agree to the Terms and Conditions may contact support@epokingine.com for refund requests. Reservation sale ends before the release of Kompute on November 25 2026.

Dedicated Shared

Our Dedicated Shared VMs are our lowest-cost virtual machines. These VMs are intended to be as affordable as possible, these virtual machines are expected to have inconsistent CPU performance because of how Dedicated Shared allocates resources. Great for hosting low-compute services and applications such as webhosting for small businesses, batch data processing, hosting personal hobby projects, small game servers or off loading low-priority local workloads.

Epokingine Shared

VMs run on the same hardware that supports Epokingine own services, primarily services from Epokingine Life. That gives you reliable uptime and consistently good performance on well-maintained hosts, though peak speed can vary with the mix of workloads on the machine. Consistent and stable CPU and memory performance makes Shared VMs greate for small production workloads: web apps and APIs, self-hosted services, internal tools, and small databases
