In computing and data storage a volume is a virtual space on a disk that treated as seperate from the rest of the disk contents.
Other cloud providers may refer to the storage you have simply as "storage", but we refer to your storage as "your volume" because it is your space to use how you would like. All of your volumes are kept seperate from each other for organizational reasons which allows you to use each of them for specific uses.
